Last Update: March 30 2008

Welcome to a new little section for my humble little site:  The Goodies Section!  Here's the deal:  having been a fan/friend for years, you could say I've amassed some things that others may not possess.  I have unofficial live recordings straight from the soundboard sources.  I have all the albums, including the ones long out of print.  And they're not out of print because they're terrible (see:  the recent live resurgence of the song Planet, which was positively reviewed by several first-time listeners).

That said, fans are bound to come along who haven't been around for years, who may not have these treats.  With Karen's blessing, this section will be a place to supply those less fortunate with sporadic treats.  Eventually, I'll also design some cute banners/colour bars/images for obsessing for the internet junkies as well.  Stay tuned and keep checking back...

FREE MUSIC!

Take that, RIAA! Not every artist is against the thought. Every once in a while, I'll throw up a file for your downloading pleasure. There will be no rhyme or reason to it, so this is basically my clever way to get you to return often and make me feel loved. And as a bonus, you can score Karen goodies!

WHAT YOU WILL NEVER FIND HERE: Studio/live tracks still available for sale via CD or iTunes. Karen is an independent artist and deserves mega support.
WHAT YOU WILL FIND HERE: Live recordings from past shows and old studio/live recordings that were featured on OOP albums and EPs

These files are free to distribute, provided you make NO profit off them. Seriously. I'll come kick your arse. I'm very, VERY net savvy, alrighty? I'll try wherever possible to provide in MP3 format over my preferred M4A. Eventually I may start a Paypal donation system for you to show Karen some love... We'll see.

GOODIE #1: MARIANNE - Opening track of the now OOP Live At Rogue's Gallery, Karen's first release. Half the fun for me of Rogue's Gallery is seeing how far Karen has evolved in terms of songwriting and her ability to wield her pipes. Marianne is one of these old tracks that I love and find on par with later releases. I managed to get it performed live once for me. Have to try that again...
GOODIE #2: STAINED GLASS WINDOW - One of the tracks on the OOP Optimist Party that I love and did not make it onto Wish On A Star.  Waaaaay back in 2002, when I first caught Karen live, I bought Optimist Party on the basis of this song alone.  It's still one of my favourites from the album, and I'm never going to stop grinning at the line, "If I was sleeping with the boys instead of making all this noise playing my guitar, would it make me a star?".
GOODIE #3: WOMAN  - Another track from Optimist Party lost to the world of OOP.  This song has a sultry loungey piano feel to it, but Karen's clever lyrical sass.  I think it's my favourite track from the album besides Wannabe, so it must live on.

IMAGES AND OTHER FUN THINGS!

Soon! I swear! Do you have any idea how long it took to learn CSS and then re-code this entire site around a 6-day work week? A girl gets TIRED! ;)
